Does it cost anything to do this fundraiser?
A.
There is the initial cost of shipping the artwork to us. (usually under $30.00) You will also need to provide your students with the paper and materials to create the artwork. Standard 8 1/2" x 11" paper is fine. Thicker art paper is also a good choice. We provide each school with permission forms, labels for the artwork, teacher guides, coordinator checklists, sample cards and posters for promotion. We also absorb the shipping of the brochures, catalogs and cards to the school. We suggest that you do take a little time and pta resources to make some additional posters and flyers to promote the fundraiser around the school. The more the parents are aware of it, the more successful your fundraiser.

Who chooses the themes of the artwork and who chooses the art to be submitted?
A.
It is up to the individual school to decide how they would like to run the fundraiser. Many teachers plan out lesson plans for the children based on what they are studying in class, while others let the children create whatever they like. Some schools have art teachers and art docents that work on class projects What really matters is that the child feels good about their submission. No child will want their parent to purchase their artwork if they themselves don’t like it. Most children need some guide lines and feel better about their art if they feel inspired.
Suggestion: have teachers log onto our website and scroll around the different schools. They can checkout artwork from all over the country by grade.
Some sample themes that tie into lesson plans:
• Underwater sea life
• Wildlife
• Planets and astronomy
• Farm animals
• Spring/flowers
• Self portraits
• Friendship

Do holiday cards sell better than “all occasion” cards?
A.
No. All parents enjoy their child’s artwork so this is not specific to holiday time. All occasion cards make wonderful gifts as well as have many other uses. Birthdays, thank you cards, get well and so on. They make great teacher gifts, 5th grade graduations announcements (and thank you cards) for the graduating class. They also make nice personal stationary for the child and Mother’s day gifts.

Can a student still participate in creating art without a permission form?
A.
YES. All children can participate in creating art, however their art will not be in the class brochure without a signed permission form. It is VERY IMPORTANT for the teachers to encourage students to get permission forms signed so that no one is left out. You can assist in this process by meeting with the teachers ahead of time and relaying the importance of the form. A teacher can also assign a class parent to contact other parents and help get forms back before the art submission deadline.
*Remember, by signing a permission form, parents are only giving permission for their child to participate. They are NOT committing to the purchase of any cards. No one needs to decide if they want to buy the cards until they see the class brochures.

Can a teacher or parent submit his/her artwork to be published?
A.
YES. Teachers, principals, office staff, parents, younger and older siblings can all submit artwork. Images submitted by anyone other than current students, will be included at the end of each brochure under “FRIENDS & FAMILY”. We do however strongly urge schools to only submit Friends & Family artwork if there has been an informal agreement that each artwork entry will be ordered.

Can we order a mixed box set of cards from our class room?
A.
We packages the cards in sets of 12 of the SAME image, however many schools get together and do “card swaps”. They place their own order plus order an extra box for trading. They meet and trade cards. Coordinators/room parents can also ask each child to donate one card from their set to put together a teacher’s box set.

We have a spring festival and want to sell the cards. How can we do that?
A.
The PTA or school organization can choose their favorite cards from each grade level and order a specific number of boxes of each. They can then create their own “mixed” box sets to sell throughout the year at their various events.

Can out of town (state, country) family members purchase the cards?
A.
YES. Each student's artwork entry will have it's own page on our Artwork for Education website. There, friends and family members can order card sets, send free e-cards, and invite others to do the same. Your school will receive the same proceeds from online sales as it would from on-campus sales.

Can we do this fundraiser more than once a year?
A.
We have found that an Artwork For Education fundraiser works best when administered once a year.

Can we submit artwork that has already been created?
A.
YES. However, if the artwork is too large too scan (larger than 9”x12”) we use studio photography to digitize the art. In this case, you will be charged a setup fee depending on how many images require this work.

Does this work as a “TAKE HOME” project?
A.
NO. Artwork creation should be supervised by a teacher or classroom volunteer. We have consistently found that with "take home projects," many children don’t finish or completely forget about the artwork. Students who don't get artwork in by the deadline, then feel left out and sad when the brochures arrive.

Do we need several volunteers to run this program?
A.
NO. There should be one main coordinator and a few helpers. Asking for one parent from each classroom to assist the teacher on art day is helpful. The parents can label the art, attach the permission forms and help with clean up. Once the art is completed and shipped off help will be needed promoting the fundraiser on campus. This can be done with flyers, posters, word of mouth, emails and announcements. The more excitement you can generate, the stronger your fundraiser response.
